Why We Call It The Jimmy

Locals know why we call it The Jimmy.  It's our responsibility to make sure our visitors do, too.

Officially, technically, however you want to say it, the Hartsville High School Red Fox Baseball Team plays at Jimmy White Park at Kelleytown Stadium.  Coach Jimmy White was the head of the Hartsville Baseball Program from 1975 to 2002.  During his tenure, Coach White won 519 games, 12 region titles and two state championships.  Coach White has also been instrumental in the Southeastern Baseball Classic since its inception in 1997.

It's customary for legendary coaches to have their names adorn spaces where their leadership was monumental.  Dean Smith has the Dean Dome.  There's Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium.  Coach K has Krzyzewskiville.  Coach White has The Jimmy.  It's as simple as that.
