Coach Jimmy White won't be the only local legend at 2019 Southeastern Baseball Classic with a field named after him. Coach Dave Schmotzer, who led the Coker College (soon-to-be University) Cobras baseball program from its inception in 1992 to 2013, has the Cobras' field in downtown Hartsville named after him. He'll also be the speaker at the Opening Ceremony for the 2019 Southeastern Baseball Classic.
During his tenure at Coker, Coach Dave won 652 games, seven conference titles and had two World Series appearances. Obviously a winner on the field, Schmotzer's true legacy is the positive impact he's had on the lives everyone he comes in contact with, not just the players he coached.
The Opening Ceremony will begin at 6pm on Tuesday, April 16.
