Team Capsule: Buford High School Yellow Jackets

Coach Hank Harris and the Buford Yellow Jackets are no strangers to The Jimmy.  Over the past few years, whether it was Legion ball in the summer or regular season play, the Yellow Jackets have made several trips to Hartsville.  However, this will be their first taste of the Southeastern Baseball Classic.

Coach Harris’ team was off to a hot 5-1 start in the pandemic shortened season of 2020.  The Yellow Jackets made the playoffs in 2021 and are set to challenge rival Andrew Jackson for their region crown this year.

The Yellow Jackets are led by senior Lander-commit Landon Deese.  The infielder/pitcher headlines a young squad that features four seniors, five juniors and seven sophomores.  In addition to Deese, seniors Austin Blackmon, Jarrett Laney and Noah Rabon, as well as Junior Catcher Brody Sanders, will be looked to as major contributors for Harris’ team during the SBC.  Sophomore infielder/pitcher Eli Sistare will be joined by classmates Hunter Gainey and Tanner Sellers in seeing significant action for the Yellow Jackets.

Coach Harris is joined by assistants Jay Stickney, Jason Sanders and Christian Joplin.

SBC Schedule for the Yellow Jackets:

  • Tuesday, April 19 vs. Trinity Collegiate at 5pm
  • Wednesday, April 20 vs. Georgia Premier at Noon
  • Thursday, April 21 vs. DeMatha at Noon

The Yellow Jackets will also play on Friday, April 22.  That game time and opponent will be determined by Tuesday-Thursday’s outcomes.
